Forget Blogspot… I’m on Tumblr!!!
I’d stumbled on a great blog post several months back via a tweet by a friend living in Minnesota (Bud Freaking Kraehling). Since then I’ve ran into others using Tumbler and I can see why…
It seems more geared for integrating with other social networking services, such as Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube. (AKA, more robust APIs!!!) On that note, I like the user interface better than Blogspot. Blogspot seems to be focused on blogging the Blogger/Blogspot way with total disregard to the other social network services you may also be using. And while many of the posting tools are the same, the templates are quite a bit different. The templates offered by Tumblr offer similar HTML control, but are more robust. On the other hand, Blogspot templates are not very appealing, and manipulating the HTML code can produced clunky results.
Of course, this is all opinion and some die-hard Blogspot blogger will argue that I’m not appreciating some finer points about Blogspot. Perhaps, but then again I’m a Mac user in IT… I work all day supporting Windows. When I get home, I just want something that works well.
